9.07.09 – Welcoming Ron Finch!
Bikes on the Bricks is excited to announce the addition of legendary bike builder Ron Finch (www.finchscustoms.com) to our event on Saturday! You may know Ron Finch from Biker Build Off on the Discovery Channel where Ron and his crew of “Finchmen” created “Doublecross” named for the crossing over design that is carried out in the frame, handlebars, exhaust and accessories. In April 2005, Ron received the Biker Blacksmith Award for extreme metal fabrication at the Biker Build Off Finale in Las Vegas.
Or maybe you’ve seen the Ron Finch creation “Finicky,” (above) named for its many fins on the motor, gas tank, air cleaner, primary, floorboards and exhaust. Ron was awarded “The House of Kolor Prestigious Painter Award 2008” for his paintwork on “Finicky” after competing with painters from around the world.
You might have seen Ron’s latest creation, “Captivator” featured in the October issue of Biker Magazine on newsstands now. Or maybe you’ve seen “Dreamcycle” (at left) the giant, 10-foot tall, 14-foot long motorcycle, built entirely from found metal, at a parade or biker event across the United States.
Ron will bring “Doublecross,” (below) “Finicky,” “Dreamcycle,” the giant motorcycle, his METALife sculptures, t-shirts and posters to Bikes on the Bricks Saturday, 10 am to 5 pm. There will be a Meet and Greet session from 2-4 pm. Ron will also be awarding the “Ron Finch’s Most Creative Bike” Award in the motorcycle show! Also, be sure to bring a camera to get your picture taken on the giant motorcycle!

Special thanks to Ron and his wife, Ruth, for taking time to be with us at Bikes on the Bricks!
Also, thanks to our new sponsors The Torch Bar & Grill, Wize Guys Pizza, 501 Bar & Grill and Finch’s Custom Cycles. Be sure to stop in and thank all our sponsors for keeping this a free event!

And bring in your rider and non-rider wristbands to the After Party Sites on Friday and Saturday to check if your number is a winner for more great prizes! You can purchase your rider or non-rider wristband for $5 now at Vehicle City Harley-Davidson (formerly Cummings Harley-Davidson), Forest Cycle Works, Top End Cycle or the Flint Area Convention & Visitors Bureau.

3.4.09 — 2009 Updates
Welcome to the 2009 Bikes on the Bricks! Due an extremely successful event last year, we have expanded the 2009 event to TWO DAYS – September 25-26!
The popularity of the law enforcement rodeo competition has led us to hold the preliminary competition on Friday and the final competition on Saturday. Last year, the competition featured 50 officers from 10 agencies throughout Michigan. This year, due to space restrictions on the course, we have to limit the number of participating officers to 75. We are expecting 10-15 agencies from throughout Michigan and at least one from Ontario. Join us to see if the Inkster officers can retain their winning title!
New this year is the police escorted ride on Friday. Motorcycles will begin lining up at 6 pm in downtown Flint and the ride will leave at 6:30 pm. Check back for more details.
Also new this year are the "Official Bikes on the Bricks After Party Sites" for Friday and Saturday. Following the ride on Friday and the event on Saturday, join us for additional fun at our Official After Party Sites! There will be special offers, live music, food, giveaways and much more! Stay tuned for the list of sites and the special offers!
Saturday will feature the final law enforcement rodeo competition, the motorcycle show (Remember there is no entry fee for a chance to win prize money in 8 categories!), sponsor and vendor displays, contests (including our popular doughnut eating contest), a featured motorcycle exhibit, music, food and more! Afterward, remember to check out the numerous "After Party Sites!"
New on Saturday is a fashion show featuring the latest motorcycle fashions from our sponsors. Stay tuned for more details on this exciting addition!

FEATURED MOTORCYCLE

This custom built motorcycle won Best of Show at the 3rd Annual Bikes on the Bricks in 2009! Built by Brian Hinkins in 2007, the frame is a drop seat rigid frame with no center tube and was built by Wrench Custom Cycles out of Sarasota, Florida. The springer front end is called The Dragon, is 16 inches over stock and built by American Suspension. The rear fender was chopped, cut, grinded, and massaged to blend in with the 6 pieces of 1/2 inch round bar stock that braces up the rear fender. The seat pan was hand done with the back of the seat pan was used from part of the rear fender. The handlebars are a one-off design which has removable inserts on top of the risers. The engine is an S&S 113" with a Prowler right-side drive 6-speed transmission. The brakes are HHI 4 piston caliper in the front with the HHI Sprotor in the rear. The wheels are 80 spoke front and rear with a 300mm rear tire. The paint work was done by Steve Fairman of On The Side Signs.
Special thanks to family and friends; Derek Hurley for machining of parts and final assembly; Roger Woodside for leathering up the seat.
